Oksana Horodytska

COO

Oksana holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alicante. Between 2016 and 2020, she developed her doctoral thesis within the Research Group on Engineering for the Circular Economy, focusing on the challenges faced by the plastic recycling sector exacerbated by the implementation of the Circular Economy in the sector. Her research aimed at improving the efficiency of mechanical processes, identifying contaminants that could be hazardous to consumers, and studying the environmental impacts of recycling processes. The findings of her research are compiled in her doctoral thesis titled "Plastics recycling: new challenges in the age of the circular economy" (http://rua.ua.es/dspace/handle/10045/111009),  as well as in 4 scientific articles published in high-impact international journals and 2 book chapters.

In 2018, she undertook a research stay at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, within the ICT for Sustainable Manufacturing research group (https://www.epfl.ch/labs/ict4sm/, where she conducted a study on the environmental

In 2021, she received the award for the best doctoral thesis that could serve as the basis for an innovative business project, granted by the entrepreneurship center of the University of Alicante (UA:Emprende) (https://web.ua.es/es/actualidad-universitaria/2021/abril2021/26-30/la-ua-entrega-los-premios-ua-emprende-a-trabajos-de-fin-de-grado-master-y-tesis-que-apuestan-por-modelos-de-negocio-innovadores.html).

Additionally, during her research phase, Oksana participated in the development of a process for the decontamination of recycled plastic for high-value applications, which has been patented (https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/es/detail.jsf?docId=WO2021123475).
